FRIDAY LIVE SHOW
Listen to 480 Minutes, winner of the Best Of Live365 Award for Best Live Show, live-hosted all day every Friday. The show is hosted by the multiple-time CMJ Specialty Music Director of the Year Award Winner, Ted Leibowitz, who has also been voted Best Internet/Satellite DJ of the Bay Area by SF Bay Guardian readers multiple times and the Best Internet DJ in the SF Weekly, every Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern U.S. Time. .
The show premiered in July of 2004, and The BAGeL Radio Friday Live Broadcast was born. It took a little over 2 years for us to figure out that the name The BAGeL Radio Friday Live Broadcast was a bit of a mouthful, and in August of 2006 the show became known as 480 Minutes (a play on the name of the beloved Sunday night MTV program, 120 Minutes).
The show features the latest playlist additions juxtaposed with BAGeL classics and recent playlist additions for context, and themed sets.
The show lasts for eight hours...seriously...and is broadcast from wherever Ted is, which is usually Queens, NY, plus remote broadcasts from other NYC boroughs, Los Angeles (Venice Beach and Eagle Rock), Austin, TX. during SXSW, poolside in Palm Springs, CA., Japan (Nagano), Freeport, IL., Roscoe, IL., Boston, MA., Guerneville, CA., and Norway (Oslo). Besides tons of new music (1000 new songs per year), the show also includes band, gig and tour info, interviews, in-studio performances, and giveaways.
480 Minutes is then rebroacast in it's entirety beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern U.S. Time on Friday evenings, twice on Saturdays (5 a.m. and 3 p.m.), and once on Sundays (1 a.m.) before expanding back into fresh playlists constructed each week from our massive and well-curated music library.
TUESDAY LIVE SHOW
Tuesdays at 3 p.m. Eastern U.S. Time is the Fuzzy Road radio show, also live-hosted by Ted (he owes us, so we are working him to the bone). This 120-minute weekly show shines a lava lamp on tons of amazing new psych, garage, space rock, shoegaze, and power pop, as well as the artists who invented and pioneered the fuzzy road in the mid to late 1960s. Artists featured have included The Black Angels, Fuzz, The Pretty Things, The Fall, Syd Barrett, Crocodiles, Thee Oh Sees, Electric Banana, The Raveonettes, The Beatles, Mikal Cronin, Creation, The Black Hollies, Dum Dum Girls, The Gods, Charlatans UK, The Kills, Swingin' Medallions, The Warlocks, Ty Segall, Cheatahs, Strawberry Alarm Clock, The Rebel Set, The Electric Prunes, Ty Segall, The Aerovons, Quilt, Ultimate Spinach, Brian Jonestown Massacre, and The Music Machine. Fuzzy Road is rebroadcast Tuesday nights at 11 p.m. Eastern Time, and again (mainly for our European and Australasian friends) on Wednesdays at 5 a.m. ET.
