"480 Minutes" - New York Moments

Next Friday 11/22 we will be broadcasting remotely from the Upper West Side, so you can expect a distinctly more upscale overall presentation than today's usual meat and potatoes outer borough mess.  No, I don't know what any of that means.

Earlier this week I was in the East Village playing pinball with friends. On my way home I decided to pop into a bar nearby to say hi to a friend who works there.  I stayed for a drink. As I got up to leave, Jimmy Fallon walked in with a couple of friends. Keep in mind this place is a total dive, and there are about 7-8 customers, one bartender, and my friend, the bar manager.  Fallon proceeds to put $20 in the juke box and take over the joint, singing at the top of his lungs over Frank Sinatra's "Witchcraft," talking with everyone, laughing, having his photo taken with anyone who asked...it was a real NY moment. I was glad to see that although he has an outsized personality, he doesn't seem to have an outsized ego. And to think, next year he replaces Jay Leno as the new  Johnny Carson.

Today's  480 Minutes show (every Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Eastern Time) will debut new songs by Bad//Dreems (Adelaide, South Australia), The Growlers (Costa Mesa, CA), The KickDrums (Brooklyn, NY), Pampers (New York, NY), Regurgitator (Australia), Robert Pollard (Dayton, OH), Roman Remains (London, England),  Static Jacks (Westfield, New Jersey), Tei Shi (Brooklyn, NY via Vancouver, Canada and Bogotá, Colombia),  Tough Age (Vancouver, Canada), and Vök (Reykjavík, Iceland).
