"480 Minutes" - Who Needs Clean Water?
This week has left me feeling utterly hopeless -- the leaders of
the party of law and order are now slaves to their lawless sociopathic master: "We don't care that he's guilty. And is he really guilty? I mean,
really? Oh, yeah, that is pretty damning stuff. Well, as we've said all along: we don't care if he's guilty."
Also, to those considering voting any way other than blue this November, have a refreshing drink of clean(ish) water now. Then let it sink in that you like clean water and know it's important; that corporate America has done quite well for itself under current Clean Water Act regulations; that your vote this November is about
environmental stewardship as much as it is baby caging, abuse of power, witness tampering, normalizing corruption, ignoring science, inciting hate, and pathological lying.
To those lamenting Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens not getting into the Hall of Fame, keep in mind that had MLB Commissioner Bud Selig not abdicated his responsibilities, both would have been tested, found in violation, suspended 50 games, then 80 games, then banned from the game for life.
Great players who always hustled on the field and invariably showed great respect for and deference to the game belong in the Hall of Fame. Great players like Bonds and Clemens who cheated and showed no respect for the game, their opponents, or even their teammates belong in a very different hall.
And now for something completely different...music!!
The flood of submissions has continued unabated, much to the consternation of your host. Usually at this time of year the volume is low which allows me opportunities to explain to labels/artists/promo companies that submissions should contain complete and accurate metadata and that the files should be of air play quality. Oh well. I guess that stuff will have to wait!
Today's
show will be live-hosted from 9am-5pm Eastern U.S. Time and will feature new music by
Algiers (Atlanta, GA, @algiersmusic).
The Coffin Daggers (New York, NY, @coffin_daggers),
En Attendant Ana (Paris, France, @enattendantana), and
Wolf Parade (Montreal, Canada, @WolfParade).
Tune in and enjoy some live radio. All the cool old fogies are doing it.
The marathon 8-hour show is followed by 2 hours of uninterrupted music and is then rebroadcast in its entirety beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, 5 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, and one final time at 1 a.m. on Sunday. That is followed by a rebroadcast of a
Fuzzy Road radio show at 11 a.m. and then a couple of old
480 Minutes episodes from this week in past years, making for hosted shows all weekend long.
