"480 Minutes" - Liberty or Death

** (Teditor's note: see below for how to join our chat room where you can hang out with fellow listeners from all over the world. we have a wonderful little community of dedicated music lovers who are all most interesting in many ways -- give it  try during today's live-hosted hours (9am-5pm ET) when the conversation is liveliest) **

This week the Supreme Court of the United States decided that the people of Wisconsin had to choose between their health and their right to vote. The choice: "Do I go against all recommendations for my safety and the safety of those around me or do I allow the Republican Party (the governor, a Democrat, tried to postpone the election) to disenfranchise me?"  And we're not talking about a regular, fully functional election, we're talking about an election during a pandemic in which just 5 of 180 polling places in the city of Milwaukee (population 600,000) were open.

It should be noted that the John Roberts SCOTUS convened safely via teleconference when making this decision, an option the voters of Milwaukee did not have. Roberts (appointed by Dubyah), Clarence Thomas (Dubyah's dad), Samuel Alito (Dubyah), Neil Gorsuch (Trump/McConnell), and Brett Kavanaugh (Trump) sided with state Republicans to disenfranchise Americans. The court has consistently done this under Roberts, including eviscerating the 1965 Voting Rights Act allowing state and local governments to draw up laws and requirements to supress minority voting including vast voter roll purges as happened in Georgia in 2019.

As more Americans die of coronavirus and the scenes of overflowing morgues and temporary burial sites become part of the nightly news the administration is going to have to go large. My bet is they do everything they can to provoke Iran into a shooting war between now and October.  What do you think?

P.S. - has anyone noticed how little reporting we are hearing about how COVID-19 is affecting Russia? Isn't that odd?

Today's show will be live-hosted from 9am-5pm Eastern U.S. Time and feature new music by Alex Henry Foster (Montreal, Canada, @umitohanasuhito),   The Dream Syndicate (Los Angeles, CA, @_DreamSyndicate), Flat Worms (Los Angeles, CA, @flatwormsband),  Mark Lanegan (Ellensburg, WA, @marklanegan), and  Peel Dream Magazine (New York, NY, @peeldreamzine).

The marathon 8-hour show is followed by 2 hours of uninterrupted music and is then rebroadcast in its entirety beginning at 7 p.m. Friday,  5 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, and one final time at 1 a.m. on Sunday. That is followed by a rebroadcast of a  Fuzzy Road radio show at 11 a.m. and then a couple of old  480 Minutes episodes from this week in past years, making for hosted shows all weekend long.

Tune in and connect with listeners in the Slack chat room. Hanging out and talking with real humans in a virtual conference room is better than not hanging out and talking with other humans.
