The July California Homegrown Music Series [CAHMS] on Wednesday, July 5 is dominated by the ladies. Sixteen year-olds Sierra Frost and Lily Faden, of Two Seconds, produce music that rocks. Plain and simple. I liked their record before I knew anything about them. They are a direct and to-the-point garage-blues-pop-punk band combining powerful vocals, concise and spot-on guitar playing, and a massive and comprehensive drum sound that belies Lily's age and experience. Two Seconds are currently in the studio recording a new album (yet to be titled). The first single, “Cool Word” will debut on Live 105’s (105.3 FM radio) Soundcheck this Sunday, July 2nd, 7 p.m.

The Hot Toddies channel the the spirit of the 60’s with their California beach rock sound. The band creates delicate Beach Boys inspired harmonies and soothing summertime riffs. The second all-female band on the line up adds touches of femininity with Mamas and Papas tambourine melodies, harmonicas and keyboards. These ladies carry on the tradition of California Dreaming while rocking with some sweetly delivered risque lyrics.

Featuring Rohner Segnitz (vocals, keyboards), Ryan Wilson (guitar), Seb Bailey (bass, guitar, vocals) and Kevin Lenhart (drums), Division Day’s new album, BEARTRAP ISLAND, drifts freely with melodious ballads and alluring arrangements. The band’s music touches the surface of oddity somewhere between the Flaming Lips and The Doves. Divison Day has shared the stage with great bands including We Are Scientists, Xiu Xiu, and The National.
