Technical Difficulties

BAGeL Radio is up and running, if you are already a listener click here to tune in, if not, start here.

Apologies to those of you who could not connect to the BAGeL Radio stream earlier today, Thursday, July 27th, 2006. The problem was not with your computer or your internet connection, but with my internet connection. I awoke to find the connection had been down all night.

If you ever find yourself in that position, may I recommend that you:
1-remain calm
2-turn off or unplug your modem
3-turn off or unplug your router (if you have more than one computer connected to a single internet connection, you have a router)
4-turn off your computer
5-make yourself a cup of your favorite hot beverage
6-assuming that step #5 took at least 1 minute, turn on (or plug in) your modem
- the power light should blink for up to a minute...wait until it is on steadily without blinking
- the DSL/internet light should blink for up to a minute...wait until it is on steadily without blinking
7-when the power and DSL light are no longer blinking, turn on (or plug in) your router (if you have one)
8-wait for 30 seconds.
9-restart your computer
10-launch your favorite browser
11-connect to the internet
12-breathe a sigh of relief and thank your lucky stars you don't live in Baghdad or Beirut
Again, I am sorry that you were deprived of several hours of BAGeL Radio today. I will try to make it up to you with a a strong playlist today, followed by a super-spectacular edition of my "480 Minutes" live show tomorrow (Friday, July 28th) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific.
