"480 Minutes" - new Verve, TV On The Radio, Birdmonster In-Studio
And if that's not enough dancing for you, next Wednesday (9/2) is The Rumble, and this one will feature an intimate mini-set by one of BAGeL Radio's favorite local bands, Magic Bullets, and a guest DJ set by the awesome Omar of Popscene.
Today's show will feature an afternoon visit from Birdmonster who may or may not play an in-studio acoustic mini-set, that has (still!) yet to be confirmed, but they are always fun to have on the show to chat with and help pick songs. I expect they will be on the air beginning around 12:30 pm Pacific Time.
New music today will include songs by The Verve (Manchester, England), TV On The Radio (New York, NY), Bound Stems (Chicago, IL), The Pack A.D. (British Columbia, Canada), The Rumble Strips (London, England), Javelins (Detroit, MI), The Upsidedown (Portland, OR), Tricky (Bristol, England), Bears (Cleveland, OH), Chad VanGaalen (Calgary, Canada), The Broken West (Lost Angeles, CA), and The Mommyheads (New York, NY).
Please tune in to "480 Minutes" today and every Friday. The show runs live from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time, is rebroadcast starting at 8 p.m., then twice more on Saturday. On Saturday night at midnight we return to regular BAGeL Radio programming.

News: Former President Bill Clinton nailed it in his Democratic Convention speech: in 1992 the Republicans branded brash Bill too young and inexperienced for the job, and what followed his election were 8 years of peace and prosperity. Now the Republicans are saying that Barack Obama is too young and inexperienced for the job. I hope they are as accurate this time as they were 16 years ago. Vice Presidential Candidate Joe Biden's speech was pretty good, too, as were those of Al Gore and even John Kerry. The line of the week, however, went to Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer who quipped, "We simply can't drill our way to energy independence. If you drilled everywhere, if you drilled in all of John McCain's backyards, even the ones he doesn't know he has."
