BAGeL Radio Turns 7 Years Old Today

As mentioned above, Wednesday February 3rd also happens to mark 7 years to the day since BAGeL Radio debuted on the webwaves. At first it was fun diversion that allowed me and some friends listen to my music collection whilst at work. By the end of 2003 I noticed that people had tuned in from over 100 countries and over 150 U.S. municipalities. BAGeL Radio began getting noticed by music blogs and other media, and it dawned on me that I needed to pay more attention to the station as listenership ballooned. In 2004 we began the BAGeL Radio Presents... series of live gigs around San Francisco, followed by the California Homegrown Music Series, and, since 2007, The Rumble. In between were remote interviews, coverage in the New York Times, ABC News, KCRW,Wired Magazine, and Chris Anderson's book The Long Tail, awards, plus memorable remote broadcasts from Los Angeles (Venice Beach and Eagle Rock), New York (Manhattan and Queens), Austin, TX. during SXSW, poolside in Palm Springs, CA., Japan (Nagano), Freeport, IL., Roscoe, IL., Boston, MA., Guerneville, CA., and Norway (Oslo).
The party tonight also celebrates 5 years since the launch of premiere Bay Area music resource The Owl Mag. The official pitch from The Owl Folks:
