480 Minutes - It's The Fuel Economy, Stupid!

This week the Trump Administration revealed that fuel economy standards kill people. "It's not guns, you stupid libtards, it's fuel economy standards!"

This week the *President of the United States of America had a George H.W. Bush supermarket moment, claiming that one needed photo ID to buy groceries in the U.S. Gaslighting secretary Sarah Sanders moved the goal posts for him claiming he only meant one needed photo ID for beer and wine. Such missteps are not all that important, but they do throw a harsh spotlight on the vastly different lives that average voters lead when compared with obscenely wealthy political leaders who make decisions that will affect millions if not billions for decades if not centuries.

This week security officials were trotted out for the cameras to assure us that they are on the job to stop the Russians from meddling in our 2018 midterm elections, telling us in no uncertain terms that this meddling happened in 2016 and is happening again now. This, only a couple of weeks after their boss said, "President Putin was extremely strong and powerful in his denial today" about the guy responsible for this meddling. So, either the guy was lying and the *President was covering for him (why would he do that?), or our top security officials are lying (why would they do that?). It's all so tiresomely transparent to all except those who listen to Alex Jones who claims that "Obama has sex with 10 men a day" and Tucker Carlson, who said, "If you’re looking to understand what’s actually happening in this country, always assume the opposite of whatever they’re telling you on the big news stations" before the *President well full-on Big Brother saying, "Just remember, what you are seeing and what you are reading is not what's happening."

The Director of National Intelligence admitted he has no knowledge of what was said in the private, two hour meeting between his boss and the guy responsible for the meddling he and his intelligence community allies are diligently fighting. How is that in any way OK? The reality TV guy is making policy in secret with an adversary, the DNI has no input or insight into this policy, and the best rebuke Grab 'em By the Paul Ryan can muster up is, "Russia is not our ally."

If all of that weren't enough, the trade war this *President started (against all economic advice) is already causing casualties at home so sever that he had to begin bailing out segments of the economy he himself torpedoed...and even that isn't the top story.  Even that hasn't moved "fiscally conservative" "small government" "free market" congressional Republicans to fucking do something. We have a know-nothing lunatic driving the bus over a cliff. Bush drove it into a ditch, Obama pulled us out of the ditch, Trump takes credit for the economy Obama saved, everyone who took Economics 101 knows the current adversarial policies are going to cause major problems for people the world over including Americans, but hardly a peep. It kinda seems as if they are afraid someone might have some dirt on them...

480 Minutes / Year 14 - Episode 30 / Episode #612 overall

*President supported by the relatively small percentage of Americans who are pro-baby caging, think the Helskini debacle was just peachy (or, more likely, didn't watch it), and believe that the president is a truth-telling stable genius.
