"480 Minutes" - International Women's Day
Today is International Women's Day, which should have little to no effect on our playlist because female artists have always been prominently featured here on BAGeL Radio, but it's still nice to ake the time to recognize the daughters and sisters and moms and grandmothers and great grandmothers of the world.
Recently the (Republican, as if it needs to be specified) Florida House Speaker referred to women as "host bodies" five times in an interview. It's good to know that the GOP 2019 is keeping it real. Real misogynistic.
Speaking of women, I saw one of the Paul Manafort jurors interviewed last night. She was and is a member of Cult 45, but believed and voted that Manafort was guilty on all counts and thought his sentence was too light. She also said something about "Russian collusion" that gave me pause: she said that when she went to vote in 2016, there were no Russians at the polls. Based on this she dismissed the idea of "Russian collusion" in the 2016 election. She has no idea what "Russian collusion" even means. This is what those of us who are against anti-LGBTQ judges, family separation, bullying, demonizing ethnic and religious groups, police brutality, sexual harassment, attacks on the free press, trade wars, and forced birth are up against -- people who honestly don't know what is going on and don't want to know.
It has been a painful week for your host who developed a case of tennis elbow and a toothache get so bad that solid food became a distant dream. The dentist said a root canal or tooth extraction are the only options, and added, sadly, that bourbon is not an actual cure, merely a temporary salve. Why must dentists ruin everything?
Today's 480 Minutes show will feature new songs by Martin Frawley (Melbourne, Australia, @martinfrawley11), formerly of the band The Twerps.
480 Minutes is live-hosted from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Eastern U.S. Time and is followed by 2 hours of uninterrupted music.
