"480 Minutes" - Why This Lie?
This week President Sociopath's appointees to the Supreme Court decided that the 8th Amendment to the Constitution (the one barring "cruel and unusual punishment") is less important than expediency. They denied a death row inmate's request for an alternative method of execution to avoid needless suffering due to his rare medical condition. The majority's petty, dismissive excuse was the same as in their 5-4 decision a few weeks ago which prevented a Muslim inmate from having his imam present at his execution -- he should have made his request sooner. Gorsuch and Kavanaugh are heartless fucking barbarians. Please remember this when voting in 2020.
I really didn't think that "cruel and unusual punishment" wouldn't become a partisan issue, and I also didn't think that school lunch nutrition standards would be, either, having forgotten that Ronald Reagan suggested that schools should count ketchup as a vegetable as a way to navigate his cuts to federal subsidies. Now President KFC and his administration have decided to roll back health standards and feed kids more sodium and less whole grains because...freedumb?
There was some good news this week -- congress passed a resolution to block President WindmillCancer from continuing to aid Saudi Arabia's bombing campaign in Yemen. Also, his own party forced him to back down on his recent bluster about repealing and replacing Obamacare which would have ensured 20 million Americans lost their health insurance.
Today's 480 Minutes show will feature new songs by Michelle Blades (Paris via Panama) and The Rebel Set (Phoenix, AZ, @rebelset).
