“480 Minutes” - Deduct Your Embryos!
This week a U.S. state decided that frozen embryos in storage have more rights than women, further clarifying the Republican Party position that the last few hundred years of human progress must be undone.
The Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court used the words, “incur the wrath of a holy God” in his opinion. While it is chilling to realize that the separation of church & state no longer exists in Talibama, it may also prove to be the undoing of the American Taliban’s attempt to reduce women to second class citizens. The hubris of a secular government official using religious language in making such a bizarre ruling creates openings for challenges constitutional, religious freedom grounds (not all religions insist that life begins at conception & not all members of religions that do agree), human rights, & competency.
