“480 Minutes” - Expand The Court
The stacked, corrupt, largely illegitmal U.S. Supreme Court took up an issue raised by lawyers for Reagan’s Repugnant Replacement as Demigodf to the Deplorables not because there was a substantive argument, but because doing so will delay the trial/verdict in the January 6th insurrection case. There is no legal precedent competing them to hear arguments that were universally rejected by lower courts, leaving no doubt that like Judge Aileen Far Right Cannon in Florida who has acted to delay proceedings to help Trump, this Supreme Court is protecting the accused from accountability for his actions.
Not that it had much of a choice before, but after this flagrant finger-on-the-scale-of-justice affront, the Biden Administration no choice but to prioritize expanding the Court extremely early in its second term to neuter the effects of the rogue 6 Supremes who were appointed by presidents who got into office without winning the popular vote. (That fact is not what makes them rogue or compromised, it just makes the whole situation just that much more galling).
The only way to fix the court is to expand it to 27 to represent the growth of the country since the Court became a 9-member body. Not right away, of course, but adding 3 new justices every couple of years over the next 12 years should do the trick.
”But how dare you suggest that we compromise the institution?!” some will bleat. Bleaters, hear me out: at present the court is stacked with justices who lied during their confirmation hearings & have displayed no respect for legal precedent. Two of them would never have been seated were it not for the outright abuse of power perpetrated by Mitch McConnell to not allow then sitting President Obama to replace Justice Antonin Scalia when he died unexpectedly & McTurtle’s further abuse of power (contradicting the bs reasoning for the previous swindle) in rushing RBG’s replacement through the confirmation process after she died. When it comes to Trump, when he needed something decided quickly (i.e. whether Colorado could keep him off the primary ballot), the Shameful Six moved quickly, yet when the compelling interest of We The People in allowing this trial to play out ahead of the 2024 election was put to them, they instead aided & abetted the criminal’s delay tactics.
Democracy cannot function when those who are meant to evenhandedly rule on the laws of the land are proudly partisan.
