“480 Minutes” - 1400 Protests

There were 1400 separate anti-Trump protests last week across the United States. Turnouts were large in big cities, as one would expect, but more importantly there were protests across Trump-country including Tupelo, Mississippi, Frankfort, Kentucky, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Salt Lake City, Utah, to name a few. That’s encouraging!

Just as he did when Canada & Mexico pushed back against Trump’s inane tariffs, Trump AGAIN flinched when the whole world pushed back on the more recent ones, AGAIN putting them on “pause,” in other words, still threatening to enact them but not enacting them.

Some may think that this is a winning strategy but to my non-economist mind repeatedly shocking the global economy is not going to make our trading partners want to renegotiate treaties or even do business with us, it’s going to unite them to figure out how to insultate themselves from Captain Chaos. Being sidelined from the world economy by our allies cannot be good for Americans. Economists, please explain to me how I am wrong.
