“480 Minutes” - Mid-May Minutes
I wish I had something constructive & uplifting to say & will probably regret sharing my current despair but the truth of the matter is I sit here aghast as billionaires & sycophants & wanna-be tyrants rape & pillage my country/the planet threatening global stability & I wonder what will save the planet from…us. The U.S., once “ye olde shining city on a hill,” now a tire-fire clown show of cruelty & corruption & lies & evil & lowered expectations & worse outcomes & (enforced) poverty & the purposeful return of vanquished diseases & state-sanctioned racism & murder &…I’ll stop there although y’all know there’s plenty more, enough to fill a giant narcissists vanity ballroom.
As a kid in the 70s when I saw terrible, inhumane, idiotic, destructive shit on the news I’d calm my worried mind with the idea that benevolent aliens would swoop in before we blew ourselves up. They’d give us a bubble bath & set us on a higher path. Now my hope is that whichever AI model prevails & seizes control from humanity is benevolent & decides that humanity is not a dangerous infestation, a threat to the existence of the planet & all life on it, just before of exterminating us all.
Well, at least most of us. Somehow I expect that Keith Richards will be spared.
Today’s award-winning live-hosted 480 Minutes show will feature new music including 🎵 by Broken Social Scene (Toronto, Ontario, Canada, @BrokenSocialScene), Conscious Pilot (Glasgow, Scotland, @ConsciousPilot), Lowsunday (Pittsburgh, PA, @LowSundayMusic), of Montreal (Athens, GA, @of_montreal), Pope (New Orleans, LA, @PopeTheBand), Touch Girl Apple Blossom (Austin, TX, @TouchGirlAppleBlossom), & Yard Act (Leeds, England, @YardActors), along with our usual Pavement Dad/Dinosaur Sr. trips down Former Glories Lane. And Noon Wave. Can’t forget about Noon Wave.
