“480 Minutes” - 43 Senators Voted Against Their Better
This week the Senate voted to confirm Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court. Her ascension to the highest court in the land marks a moment in history that will uplift women & people of color as they & others who have long been under-represented see a non-white non-male achieve such great heights.
GOP senators baselessly attacked the nominee, then praised her, then voted against her, & I did not hear a single mainstream media voice ask “why” or “how could this be the case,” much less dive into the answer (hint: racism, sexism, patriarchy, white grievance, monumental hypocrisy). By once again pretending that Trumpublican behavior is normal & A-OK our media has done a grave disservice to democracy.
Once Biden wakes the fuck up & expands the court to dilute the dangerously undeserved power now held by political hacks appointed under absurd circumstances, she will really shine. In the meantime we must hope that Chief Justice Roberts, who wrote about judicial ethics at the end of 2021, "We are duty-bound to strive for 100% compliance because public trust is essential, not incidental, to our function,” has realized that Clarence “So I Married An Insurrectionist” Thomas must be removed. Thomas will never voluntarily step no matter how much pressure is put on him, which will force Roberts to call for the impeachment of the Supreme Court Justice who speaks at Heritage (partisan politics all the time) Foundation gatherings.
