“480 Minutes” - Fontaines Down The Line

This week the Biggest Loser/Liar/Baby in American history projectile vomited a churlish, childish official statement threatening “his” party that if the twisted & unqualified asshats he is endorsing in the GOP primaries don’t win their races…well… he’ll huff & he’ll puff & he’ll take his hairball & go home, taking his devoted Fox-lobotomized followers with him. The statement referred to Mike Pence, Mitt Romney, & Mitch McConnell as “weak losers” for not going along his Big Lie (evidence for which remains as elusive as his tax returns & Perjury Taylor Green’s short-term memory) & instructed his cult to boycott the midterms if he doesn’t get his way.

Despite daily attempts across U.S. mainstream media to undermine the current President, a leader who actually knew enough to mention Jews & anti-semitism in his Holocaust Remembrance remarks unlike his Neo Nazi-pandering predecessor, it seems that the GOP might actually have even bigger internal conflict problems ahead. Let us hope.

In other news your favorite independent award-winning commercial-free indie rock noise pop internet radio could really use your support as we try to put this now stand-alone project on solid financial footing. We rely 100% on listener support to pay for everything (royalties, stream hosting web hosting, equipement, etc.) & right now we’re not close to covering even those basics. If you can help, please do — tax-deductible (for our U.S. listeners) recurring donations are ideal, one-time donations are great, & you can also help by getting yourself or a loved one a BAGeL Radio-branded something-or-other here. Thank you.

Today during the marathon 480 Minutes program which is live-hosted from 9am-5pm Eastern U.S. time we will debut new music by Fontaines D.C. (London, England via Dublin, Ireland, @FontainesDublin). This week their new album Skinty Fia kept me mesmerized to the exclusion of most other music. It is deep, dark, & dirty: the holy trinity of post-punk. While listening a third (or was it a fourth?) time through I realized that other submissions I’d been attempting to review this week were not going to get my full attention, so I decided that rather than unfairly chuck those into the “no thank you” pile I’d save them for next week when they’ll have a better chance of making an impression. So, yeah, I guess you could say that initial impressions suggest that the new Fontaines D.C. record is kinda OK.
