“480 Minutes” - Down to 355
8-hours of live-hosted indie rock noise pop post-punk shoe gaze psych & garage rock from 9am until 5pm Eastern U.S. Time, and not just any indie rock noise pop post-punk shoe gaze psych & garage rock, but songs we’ve been reacquainting ourselves with over the past couple of weeks while working on out year-end top music charts. The show will also feature recent playlist additions, past BAGeL Radio #1 songs, & a few songs by New Zealand legends The Clean to commemorate the passing of founding drummer Hamish Kilgour.
We have been churning through all of the new playlist additions this year trying to figure out which were our top songs & top albums. A pretty solid top albums list is coming along & the list of candidates for top songs of the year has been whittled down to 355…we’re getting there!
And now for your regularly scheduled political rant…
The U.S. government made a deal to free wrongfully imprisoned WNBA political pawn Brittney Griner from Vlad The Invader’s Gulag. She was sentenced to 9 years in prison after less than a gram of hash oil (this is a trace amount, nothing resembling even personal-use smuggling) was found in her luggage when she arrived to play in the Russian women’s basketball league. A dangerous arms dealer was released to Russia in exchange, a dangerous move to be sure, & whole lot of Americans are unhappy about the deal, wondering why she was freed & not a former U.S. Marine who has been in custody since The Former Guy was in office. Said former Marine’s brother isn’t nearly as upset as the Fascist Echo Chamber. So far nearly all of the unhappy people are white except for Kari Lake, who suggested the Griner should have refused her release. Lake, who was defeated in her bid to become Arizona governor a month ago, still has not conceded to her opponent, still has not provided proof of her election fraud claims, & says she’s still fighting for the office even though her state immediately & without a hint of remorse moved on without her. She is following the playbook of her endorser/role model, #BenedictOrange, & so far she is faring no better than he is.
More good news: Georgia Senator Reverend Rafael Warnock defeated Trump-stained challenger, noted werewolf wannabe, & climate science buffoon Herschel Clueless Walker in a runoff election after neither candidate reached the required 50% threshold in the general election last month. The Warnock win is very good news. The less good news is 48.7% of the runoff voters opted for an obviously unqualified total hypocrite domestic abuser moron celebrity, showing just how broken this country remains.
Even more good news this week included a New York jury finding the #TrumpCriminalEnterprise (aka the Trump Organization) guilty of 17 counts of tax fraud. There were 17 counts charged, 17 guilty verdicts were returned.
In less good news an outside company discovered more stolen classified documents stained with Cheeto dust in a storage facility in West Palm Beach, FL. The Former Guy has blown a massive hole in the national security apparatus of the U.S. &, because this segment has to end on a negative: his cult still doesn’t care.
