“480 Minutes” - Think Critically

Think critically when reading/watching any news source. Get your news from multiple sources, even ones you don’t agree with — this will help you figure out what’s accurate, what’s distorted, & what’s important, something the corporate media here in the U.S. is just awful about.

One subject that requires a second look is the way the media covers “religious freedom.” Just this week I have read several articles & opinion pieces that referred to the Christian Taliban & their “religious freedom” crusade w/o bothering to even hint at just how Orwellian their use of that term is. It is journalistic malpractice. Those employing it are actively working to enshrine their version of their religion into law at the clear expense of others’ beliefs, rights, health, & often at the expense of reality. What these people are pushing is the antithesis of “religious freedom.” They are pushing religious domination.

Another place the US media is failing miserably at the moment is in it’s coverage of the “third party” group No Labels. Coverage has consisted mainly of parroting it’s bullshit marketing materials. NL is trying to position itself as some kind of moderate option as an alternative to two extremes. A fine concept, to be sure…except that in reality on one side we have the prototypical centrist in Joe Biden, who is about as extreme as a bubble bath, while on the other hand we have a serial liar criminal lunatic openly wannabe dictator constantly undermining democracy & threatening us all with carnage if he is found guilty of & jailed for any of the myriad federal indictments he’s facing. If No Labels’ value proposition is that they are staking out a middle position between relative sanity & total madness, I’d hope the majority of Americans will choose relative sanity…but that will be made more difficult the longer the media continues gaslighting us by portraying No Labels as something it is so very clearly not.
