"480 Minutes" - 3/23/07

Before previewing today's show, please read the new post below this one about the Copyright Royalty Board decision that threatens to sweep independent internet radio into the dustbin of history. I have had unpleasant discussions with lots of folks involved and/or affected by this, including the folks who stream BAGeL Radio, and the mood is not optimistic. Please, if you have not already done so, sign the petition, and write to your Congresspeople. The honorable Rusty at SomaFM has written up a sample message that you can send, or edit and send.

Also, Live365 (who hosts the station) has tightened up it's session log-in protocols, so you may get a 'please log in' message when you first launch the station. If you are Live365 member, just enter your username and password. If you are not yet a Live365 member, I highly recommend you sign up for a free account, that should save you from having problems launching the stream. It's quick, easy, and free, I promise.

As for today's show, it will feature new music from Rose Kemp, Jarvis Cocker, Mando Diao (no longer sounding exactly like The Libertines -- who'd a thunk?), Magic Bullets, Other Men (yet another Rob Crow side project), Secretary Bird, and Grinderman (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds with a new name and updated sound including a couple of Morphine-like songs with added raucus psych-rock guitar squalls -- it's crazy good). I will also play a couple of songs off an album from last year that I totally missed, The Kooks' Inside In/Inside Out, plus lots of the bands I saw at SXSW.

Please tune in for "480 Minutes" today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time and request songs and stuff via:

Recent Gig Photos:

Lots. Tons. A bazillion. Photos out the wazoo. If you've been putting off hooking up your computer to your new 42" plasma TV in the living room, now is the time to do it so you can luxuriate on your couch while experiencing SXSW 2007 vicariously through photos. Check out the post two posts down, or just click here. The Flickr slideshows are cool, but they don't display the photo titles, so you may not know who you are looking at, although I'm sure you'll recognize the close-ups of Pete Townshend (of The Who), Pete Shelly (of The Buzzcocks), and Perry Farrell (of Jane's Addiction).
