“480 Minutes” - XTN Taliban Rising

The recent Alabama Supreme Court decision to give popsicles more rights than women & use the term “incur the wrath of a holy God” in their legal opinion tells you all you need to know about where the foundational American principle which separates church & state means to certain groups. These groups are mainly led by charlatans seeking power for themselves to the detriment of anyone & everyone who doesn’t look like & (claim to) worship the way they (claim) to.

The publicly pious have proven time & again that wearing a symbol around ones neck & telling others who their lord & savior is (does anyone ever ask them, or do they just regurgitate that on their own?) is meaningless. These charlatans indulge in the behaviors they demonize at least as much as the rest of us, yet their groomed, misinformed flocks of followers don’t seem to notice.

The religious wrong told us they were coming for Roe & a women’s right to choose. Too many didn’t take the threat to rights seriously. You can’t blame people — what kind of idiot politician in the land of the free is going to strip away rights from people & expect to get re-elected? Well, one doesn’t need politicians when one has captured the unelected co-equal (but in a very real way most powerful) brach of government. The Forced Birth movement circumvented the elected branches of government & had the Supreme Court do their dirty work by overturning 50 years of a popular legal precedent. And still people vote for Republicans!

Meanwhile, someone on the Trump campaign payroll thought it would be a fine idea to create perhaps the lowest attack ad in the history of presidential politics showing the elderly President of the United States falling, stumbling, & mumbling, including an off-camera prep moment, asking the question “Will he even survive until 2029?” That’s today’s GOP. It doesn’t matter that their guy is nearly as old & there is tons of video of him falling, stumbling, mumbling, & slurring his words to the point where his audience clearly has no idea what he just said. It doesn’t matter that a similar attack ad on the Orange Menace would actually be more effective if it showed some of his gaffes & then showing him speaking clearly as he lies, distorts, insults, & lays out his un-American policies. On the one hand I hope no one does it, further fraying & debasing politics; on the other hand one reason the right scores victories is this just type of asymmetric warfare that decent people would not stoop to.

Where did I see this despicable ad? Why, on MSNBC, of course, the “left-leaning” cable news channel, a fine example of capitalism swallowing its own tail.
