Here in the U.S. one of the two main political parties wants to build roads, protect the planet for future generations, and keep a global pandemic in check; the other wants to arm everyone, pretend systemic racism doesn't exist, force unwanted births, and [holy shit!] block Medicare from collectively negotiating drug prices so Americans can stop paying an average of 3.5 times the price for the same brand name drugs as the rest of the world. What is that about?
Even after the unconscionable post-Charlottesville comments, the Helsinki/Putin Public Felatio Incident, the Ukraine abuse of power for personal political gain, the election lies, the insurrection, the actual coup attempt by the guy who lost the election, Gilead & Little Gilead (the states formerly known as Texas and Ohio), there are still Americans who vote Republican. This is astounding. And terrifying.
Most congressional Republicans have signed on to the madness and continue pushing the election lies. Most of the rest are complicit in their silence and inaction. Seemingly a switch was flipped making the entire GOP full-on autocratic overnight. Of course it wasn't overnight, the skids were greased by decades of FOX News/televangelist/Rush Limbaugh lies softening the brains of and radicalizing the GOP rank and file to the point that most are now unquestioning supplicants of a wannabe facist. Considering the reality denial regarding race, climate change, the insurrection, the outright criminality of the previous administration, and the COVID pandemic (which has now claimed 750K+ in the U.S. and 5M+ worldwide), it is most certainly a massive collective psychosis.
We need to figure out how to reverse this trend fast because it is rapidly reversing decades of societal progress on many fronts. The GOP tried for years to take away healthcare (repeal and replace!), is successfully rolling back womens' rights, working to make it legal for just about anyone to carry a gun anywhere, making a mockery of the courts (see the
judge in the Kyle Rittenhouse case and the
jury in the Ahmaud Arbery case, and, oh yeah, undermining democracy.
Dangerous waters, these. Suggestions?

Yes, that's it. It was not a week for strong submissions. Well, it might have been, but so much arrived as low bit rate, and/or in the wrong format, and/or missing metadata...we'll never know.
